一、审题立意

四级作文写作过程中最关键的步骤就是审题，不仔细审题就会很容易使作文跑题，因此这是必不可少的第一步。此步骤要注意两点：一是分析题目和图画，确定文章的命题类型，抓住中心思想，联想此作文要求的写作主题。二是进一步确定给定的题材及此作文要考查的重点内容。也就是说，通过审题，考生要对作文谈论的主要话题心中有数。

二、组织结构

审题之后，根据分析的结果草拟提纲并组织安排段落，确定文章的整体结构。一般而言，考生可将图画作文转化为三段式提纲作文。开始段描述图画内容；中间段解释图画所反映出来的深层意义；结尾段引出结论，总结全文。各段的主题句要条理清晰，以使自己要表达的内容有更好的把握。每段的重点都应集中于描述图画规定的内容。选用的词句应紧扣图画主题、突出重点、前后连贯、表达清楚。

三、检查修改

考试过程中，很多考生由于紧张、仓促等原因，很容易犯一些简单的错误。因此，最后留出几分钟时间来修改所写内容是很有必要的。然而，切忌大幅度地对作文惊醒修改，因为这样会破坏卷面整洁，影响阅卷老师对试卷的印象。修改时可以从两点着手：

语法方面。包括时态是正确、名词单复数是否对应、被动主动语态是否正确、主谓是否一致等。

词汇方面。包括连接上下句或段落的关联词、固定搭配、及物不及物动词的使用、习惯用语是否使用正确等。同时，单词拼写错误和标点误用都是扣分点，考生应尽量避免此类错误。

2013年12月，全国大学英语四六级进行了大幅度的题型改革，英语作文依然被保留，依然作为考查学生语言输出能力的一个重要指标。

语言的学习是一个输入和输出的过程。在这个过程中，输入更多的是模仿和储存，而输出就是一个创造性的活动过程。进入大学后，学生面临的是英语教学模式的改变和学习方式的改变，如何适应这种改变，更快地顺利通过大学英语的一些标准化考试，是老师和学生的工作重心。在这些标准化考试中，英语作文的难度很大。如何帮助学生提高英语作文能力，笔者做了一些总结。

大学英语四级作文的评分标准可以分为内容、组织和语言三个方面，内容按照题目提纲扩展即可；组织除了要注意段与段之间的连贯与衔接之外，还要特别注意考生最容易忽略的句与句之间的逻辑性；最难提高的是语言，即用词的丰富性和句子的复杂性。要拿到新四级写作高分，就必须在语言上有特色，语言的表达是否简练、准确非常关键。那么怎么突破呢？答案很简单，使用好简单句。

学了多年英语，大部分学生还是能够写出一些东西的，最起码能够写出一些英语的简单句。简单句包括S+V（主谓句），S+V+O（主谓宾），S+V+O+O（主谓宾宾），S+V+O+C（主谓宾宾补），S+V+C（主系表）。实际上，实际上复杂一些的句子无不是由这些简单句演变而来的。

学生从小学开始学英语，到参加大学英语四级考试时，已基本具备用英语表达自己的思想的能力，但为什么还不能写出好的句子？原因在于把写作想得太复杂了。通过仔细分析，把要表达的思想分解成简单句，然后将简单句加以润色、组合，就可使之形成漂亮的复合句，夺取高分。

例如写这样一句话，对于网络课程，学生不仅可以选择何时何地学习，在回答问题之前还可以有时间思考答案。

看到这个句子，学生往往能想到用Not only ... but also组建整个句子，但从何下手成了难题。我们不妨把整个句子进行解剖，把它分拆成最小的单位，即简单句。经过分拆，它可以被看成包含如下简单句的复合句：

1.学生选择何时何地学习网络课程。

2.他们有时间思考答案。

3.他们回答问题。

在第一句中，选用简单的主谓宾结构就可以，只是需要在宾语处用上动词不定式的复合结构，这是高中英语中学生掌握比较好的内容。于是就有了：

The students can choose when and where to learn for an online course.

第二句更简单，但学生往往会用中文式的思考方式，望文生义，写出：They have time to think through answers.在此，应稍微润色，用地道的英语表达（这点需要学生调用平时的储存和积累），改变成这样会更好些：They can take time to think through answers.（ 此处，take time 的巧妙运用会让句子表达更好。）

第三句，学生会毫不犹豫地写出：They answer questions.但更巧妙的翻译应该是：They make a reply.

接下来最关键的是把这三个句子进行组合：Not only can students choose when and where to learn for an online course，but they can also take time to think through answers before they make a reply.为了进一步简洁句子，可以对句子进一步浓缩，把they make a reply变成分词短语，因为前后的主语是一致的。这样就有了最后的漂亮句子：Not only can students choose when and where to learn for a online course，but they can also take time to think through answers before making a reply.在整个句子的组建中，关键是有not only... but also使用，when and where to do，take time，think through，make a reply的选用。

上句总共28个词，却恰当地把整个句子的意思体现得完美无缺。上面这个句子是我们从简单句逐渐变的。这说明：简单句这只丑小鸭也可以变成白天鹅，这是对四级考生写作应试方面最大的启示。
