高中英语课中阅读与写作训练相结合的案例

摘 要:本文通过展示一堂成功的阅读理解训练与写作课相结合的案例,提出在农村高中,利用有限的教学资源最大限度的提高学生的听说读写能力是农村英语教学取得成功的必由之路。

笔者承担的是人教版高中英语选修(7)第四单元的课文A BIOGRAPHY OF ISSAC ASIMOV的教学任务,这是一篇人物传记,笔者备课时的初衷就是让学生学完这篇课文后,可以利用课文中提供的短语,句型以及阿西莫夫的一些基本信息,自己写一篇关于阿西莫夫的120字以内的英语小短文。这样做有三个目的:一是让学生不断巩固和强化训练学到的短语和句型;二是训练学生提取主要信息的能力;《高中英语新课程标准》对学生阅读能力(六级)的要求是:(1)能从一般文章中获取和处理主要信息;(2)能理解文章主旨和作者意图。三是训练学生的写作能力,《高中英语新课程标准》对学生写作能力(八级)的要求是:(1)能根据所读文章进行转述或写摘要;(2)能根据用文字及图表提供的信息写短文或报告。从认知角度来看,听和读是话语理解和信息输入的能力,说和写是表达思想,是信息输出的技能。”

笔者的教学环节和具体操作如下。

(1)检查预习:翻译以下短语(旨在为后面小作文的写作做好短语的积累)。①一位科学家兼作家,a scientist and writer;②因……而非常出名,be best known for;③在……岁时,at the age of…;④经营商店,run a store;⑤兼职,work part-time;⑥获得硕士学位,gain a master`s degree.

(2)导入:通过由阿西莫夫的名著I,Robot改编的同名电影《机械公敌》的剧照导入课文。

(3)略读:快速阅读课文并回答下列问题(旨在为后面小作文的写作做好内容的积累)。①What is he and what is he famous for?(答案:He is an American scientist and writer who is famous for his science fiction stories.);②When was he born and how old was he when he died?(答案:He was born on 2 January,1920 and he was died at the age of 72.);③What king of person do you think he is and what did his life like?(答案:He is a gifted and productive man who led a busy and full life.)

(4)精读:仔细阅读课文并补全下面图表内容(同Step3,旨在为后面小作文的写作做好内容的积累)。(表1)

(5)自我检测:1)找出课文中用来描写人物的句型(旨在为后面小作文的写作做好句型的积累),学生找到的句型如下:① sb.is a/an…who…;②sb.is best known for…;③sb’s life began/ended in…;④at the age of…等等;2)写作:根据课文内容,以小组为单位写一篇介绍阿西莫夫的120字以内的短文。(提示:结合step1里面短语,step3里的问题及答案,step4里的图表内容和step5里的句型结构)。

经过当堂指导和修改,一组同学的作品如下:Isaac Asimov was an American scientist and writer who was born in Russia on January,1920.He was the oldest child of his parents,who had three children in all.So at the age of 9,he started working part-time in his parent’s candy store.But he was so hardworking and talented that he got a master degree in chemistry in 1941.he even gained his PhD in chemistry.In his early life,he worked on all kinds of jobs,such as teacher,chemist and so on.However,he is best known for his science fiction stories. Unluckily,the productive writer died at the age of 72 as a result of HIV infection.

本文亮点:第一,题目覆盖面广。阅读题目设置覆盖面广,从短语—句子—句型,有精读题目,有对全文内容理解的题目,也有作者的客观评价题,从而全方位训练了学生的阅读能力。第二,步步为营。每一道题目设置都不是随意的,所设置的题目不仅是为提高阅读理解能力服务的,更是为了最后的小作文作短语、句型和内容方面的积累的。

课后老师和学生对本节课的评价都不错,笔者将继续沿着这条思路,为提高本班的英语阅读和写作能力努力。
