Through the story, we can know more about the spirit of the contemporary young university students.

This is an adventure, which took place on my way home last winter vacation. I am a university student in a city of Hunan Province, which is at least four thousand miles away from my hometown, Yantai. What distresses me greatly is that there is no direct train, and this always forces me to change my train in Zhengzhou Railway Station. In days of last winter, the sky seemed as dim as the face of a person who was in heavy debts on a Christmas day, and wind blew more fiercely when I struggled to raise my head while walking on the way to my classroom. Those were difficult days for one of my close friends and me, financially. We tried to study hard and wanted to get a satisfying score in the final examination, when we fought with our stomach to leave some money for our train tickets. Painfully but luckily, I got two hundred yuan in my pocket on the first step of my back-home journey, the day after our last exam. I bought a ticket from Changsha to Zhengzhou and two pairs of gloves for my parents, without preparing anything to eat. That was a plan of emptying my tummy completely and replenishing it fully when finally at home. One hundred and twenty yuan was left. Luckly, things went on smoothly for the first half of my journey, and I half-consciously got into the Ticket Office of Zhengzhou Railway Station, just half an hour past midnight. “Please, can I buy a ticket to Yantai?” “One for tonight, and 137 yuan.” the clerk answered abruptly , for there was a long line waiting. “Can I get a discount? I have a student card...” “Show me, please,” I handed it over and she irradiated it with an ultraviolet machine, “Oh, I’m sorry, but something is wrong with your discount card. It doesn’t work now ... would you buy at a full price?” “No, thanks ...” With my head hung down, I went off the hall to the plaza.Well, I was stuck here, with the amount of money, which was not enough to buy a ticket and a discount card, which refused to work. “Anyway, I got to live.” I reminded myself and tried to have a deep breath and calmed down. “First, let me find a place to have a good sleep, before money comes and a new journey begins.” My right hand searched for money in the pocket, while my eyes blinked dazedly.Suddenly, I felt a little queer, and looked down―my pocket had been torn! Harsh! “Have I done something severely wrong? Why should I be punished mercilessly like this?” I murmured to myself. Taking a few steps forwards, then walking back, I wondered, knowing nowhere to go. “What can I do?” I just could not help feeling overwhelmed in that helpless situation, cold, hungry, nervous and dreadful in the darkness-covered square. In five minutes, I just stared into the air, and felt my lips trembling. “Well, it’s no time to complain. I need to think about it.” I repeated it, trying to control myself and concentrate my anamneses. Then I began to feel cool.
