人文情怀下的英语课堂

[摘 要]在高三复习迎考阶段,试卷讲评课是不可或缺的学习环节。教师结合考卷,对学生进行点拨,让学生清晰地了解试题特征并掌握考点内容,这是提高学生的基础知识水平和解题技巧的重要手段。以英语试卷中的阅读与写作讲评课为例,教师在教学中应做到以下几点:设计课堂流程,衔接有序地展开课堂教学;开宗明义,有效把握课堂教学目的;分析阅读理解,在人文情怀中操练解题技巧;写作训练,关注优化例句和佳句赏析。

一、案例背景

2013年南京市高三第二次模拟考试,题型和分值与高考一致。从校均分81分不难看出,整张试卷的难度系数中等偏上。本次考试考点稳定,重点突出,突出对学生综合语用能力的考查。本张试卷讲评计划用时两个课时,第一课时内容为听力、单选、完型和任务型阅读;第二课时是阅读理解和作文。本文是对针对第二课时展开的公开课教学活动的总结和回顾。

四篇阅读理解包括应用文、说明文和记叙文三种文体,涵盖了书信、广告、科普和故事等多个类别,篇幅较长,对学生的理解要求高。书面表达要求学生以David的口吻给自己的好友Lily回信,时态和人称较容易把握,主要是考查学生谋篇布局的能力和写作技巧。

随着新课程改革的深入,提高教学的有效性再次成为人们议论和探索的焦点。如何优化试卷讲评课,构建学生主动参与的有效课堂,真正提升高三试卷讲评课的质量,是一线教师一直努力的方向和目标。本案例就是围绕如何在讲评课中注入人文情怀,注重解题方法的指导,通过佳句赏析提高学生写作水平等,优化课堂试卷讲评课而进行的。

二、案例描述

(一)设计课堂流程,衔接有序地展开课堂教学

为了提高课堂效率,创设高效课堂,教师必须优化课堂教学结构,精心设计起伏有致的教学流程。搭配合理,衔接有序,融洽统一,凸显课堂整体节奏的和谐之美,以此来增强课堂教学的韵律感,提高课堂教学效率。

结合本份模拟试卷,从各题得分率可以看出,在四篇阅读理解中,D篇失分最多,所以,教师改变传统的从前往后讲的顺序,从D篇开始,依次推进,最后讲评A篇――一封回信。A篇文章体裁与作文类似,所以直接从回信的注意点过渡至作文讲评,从写作要点、优化例句、佳句赏析、谚语熟记等几个部分逐一展开。

(二)开宗明义,有效把握课堂教学目的

教学目标的重要性不言而喻,合理清晰的教学目标是高效课堂教学的前提,学生明确了学习目标就能够更好地参与到学习中。每节课教学目标制订得是否精当直接关系到这节课是否具有实效性,关系到通过这节课学生是否真的学有所得。高三复习阶段明确目标尤为重要。操作性强的教学目标能为课堂在预设流程中展开做好预热和铺垫。课堂伊始,教师结合授课班级学情和现状,设定如下教学目标:

By the end of the period, you will be able to:(1)solve different reading problems by using different reading strategies;(2)learn to write a letter in reply with certain topics;(3)polish up your sentences by using different writing skills.

(三)分析阅读理解,在人文情怀中操练解题技巧

阅读理解的试卷讲评绝不仅仅是为了让学生弄明白几道题目,而是让学生清晰了解试题特征,试卷讲评课应突出学法指导和解题技巧的点拨。同时,为了避免一讲到底、枯燥无味的课堂,教师也应恰当、灵活地联系生活和学习及与之相关的感悟,使教学节奏变化活泼,富有新鲜感,让习题课充盈着人文气息。

细节一,丰富课堂,人文情怀贯穿始终。

本次模拟考试的阅读理解D篇通过描述一家人在机场的重逢情景,展示了父亲与孩子、丈夫与妻子之间浓烈的情感,字里行间流露着浓浓的亲情。在讲解本篇文章之前,教师让学生采取自我反思、合作交流的方式,谈谈自己对这篇文章的感触,最后总结,并配以全家福,表达感悟:I can do more for my family。这个温情的片段在学生中引起共鸣。紧承其后,在熟知故事梗概的基础上,梳理全篇脉络自然就水到渠成。

另一个人文片段出现在讲评阅读理解B中,该篇是澳大利亚的兰登书屋(Random House Australia)对即将出版的一本关于旅游经历的书的推荐,介绍了该书的内容、作者及卖点。教师及时抛出问题:“Do you like travelling? But we don’t have enough time, so reading books is a good choice. Besides this book, Slow Journey South:Walking to Africa in English, here are some best-selling books concerning travelling in Chinese.”适时引入《背包十年》、《一路向南》、《我们为什么旅行》等书,图文并茂的介绍无形中传递了思想和文化,增强教学的艺术感染力。

细节二,文体归纳,触类旁通开阔视野。

历年高考题的阅读理解都是呈现多样的题材和文体,熟悉并掌握各种文体的特点定会助解题一臂之力。本堂课的阅读理解教学一直注重归纳各种文体的特点,希望能够让学生触类旁通。例如,在学习完阅读理解D篇后,教师归纳了故事类文章的特点及其解题技巧。文章特点:篇幅较长,人物关系较复杂,描写性词汇、段落较多。解题技巧:(1)弄清人物关系、故事背景和发展线索。(2)主题升华往往在文章末尾,重视文章末段,揭示主题。又如,B篇阅读理解是一篇广告,教师便及时归纳了广告题材的解题技巧:(1)Read the title and subtitles carefully to predict the topic.(2)Read the questions first and try to find relative information more quickly.(3)Focus on the pictures offered and certain explanations of them.

细节三,结合学案,注重阅读解题方法的归纳和操练。

高三学习时间短、任务重,所以,笔者一直坚持在教学中以学案辅助教学。学案由预习案、研习案和复习案三部分组成,可以为学生的预习、课堂学习和复习提供帮助。本次试卷的阅读理解D篇中,第66题突出对归纳概括能力的考查:

本题的信息源在第五段,学生需要关注与描述人的性格相关的形容词、副词和动词:While this happening, a baby girl was squirming excitedly in her mother’s arms, never once taking her little eyes off the wonderful sight of her returning father…The little girl instantly relaxed and simply laid her head on his shoulder, motionless in pure contentment.可以得出答案为D。紧承其后,结合学案中的技能提高练习,强化归纳概括能力的操练:

Some eyes rolled and there were a few low groans(嘟囔声)when Ms.Yates was about to speak. Many started looking at their watches and coming up with excuses to be anywhere instead of preparing to listen to a lecture from an old woman who had few kind words for her students and made them work harder than all the other teachers combined.

又如,在处理完阅读理解C篇中的第65题词义猜测后,归纳猜测词义常用方法:(1)利用上下文,通过对应结构或平行结构中的同义词、反义词进行判断;(2)利用定语从句、同位语从句等进行判断;(3)利用关联词,如“but” “however”“not only…but also”进行判断;(4)利用构词法进行判断。并结合学案,再次巩固:

(四)写作训练,关注优化例句和佳句赏析

鉴于阅读理解A篇与作文的题材相似――回信,总结A篇的写作框架:结合来信,表明观点,并多角度阐明青少年做临时工作的益处(the benefits of parttime jobs for teenagers),最后概述。书面表达亦是如此。师生讨论归纳文章主体,确保要点齐全:

Para.2 The reasons why people launch the campaign

Para.3 How the campaign is going in Nanjing City / David’s opinion

教师提出问题:“How can we improve the composition?”学生分小组热烈讨论,归纳如下:使用较高级的词汇,使用较多样的句式,使用恰当的过渡词,使用谚语、实例等。并逐一阐释,以“使用较多样的句式”为例,学案配有如下习题:

按要求改写下列例句:

In my opinion, the campaign is of great importance.

(1)添加内容:因为少浪费食物,更多的原料可以节省下来(从句中运用with的复合结构)。

In my opinion, the campaign is of great importance .___________________________________(in that with less food wasted, more raw materials will be saved)

(2)添加内容:因为少浪费食物,更多的原料可以节省下来,这有益于建设一个全面小康的社会。(运用非限制性定语从句)

诚然,这些改写后的句子优美得体,来自学生中的佳句更是精彩纷呈:

Clearing Your Plate means that we should eat up all the food in our plates instead of throwing it away.――陈志鹏

As far as I am concerned, the campaign does a lot of good to our earth and we ought to carry it out thoroughly.――陈倩

What makes me happy is that many people have taken part in the campaign.――沈欣

除此之外,教师补充了与“节俭”相关的谚语和俗语:(1)Industry is fortune’s right hand, and frugality her left.(2)The love of economy is the root of all virtue.(3)Thrift is not only a great virtue, but also a great revenue.(4)Saving is getting.(5)Many hands make light work.

三、案例反思

1.本堂课的主要内容在轻松的气氛中演绎结束,在这个过程中,教师秉承优化试卷讲评课的原则,将教师的主导作用与学生的主体地位有机结合起来,创设了人文情怀的课堂氛围,最大限度地让学生参与了课堂教学活动。

2.试卷讲评课是一个阶段的总结,也是与下个阶段学习衔接的重要环节。它不仅仅是讲评一张试卷那么简单,更应该让学生总结和提升解题技巧,实现举一反三、触类旁通。

3.参与听评的教师在肯定了本堂课设计、解题技巧指导、人文情怀注入的基础上,指出课堂的遗憾之处:缺少简短扼要的总结,未能说出试卷讲评课的真意。这是今后教学中需要改进的地方。
