一、Introduction(概述)

The composition writing in Module 6 is a more difficult part for senior 2 students, but according to the National New Curriculum Standard and what they have learnt, they are intended to write a composition about 120 words. This period is one of expository writing.

二、Teaching aim(教学目标)

1. Learning knowledge & skills(知识与技能)

1) Learn how to express yourself.

2) Learn how to write a whole sentence.

3) Learn to write a simple poem.

4) Learn to write a short article (50 words) within a limited time.

5) Learn to write down a complete passage (120 words) according to the given material.

2. Process & methods(过程与方法)

1) Say a tongue twister as fast as possible.(听与说训练)

2) Judge & correct some sentences.(读训练)

3) Learn to write a simple poem.(小组写训练)

4) Understand the coherence of an article.(理解文章的上下文连贯性,小组比赛)

5) Complete a passage with the given material.(综合表达能力训练)

3. Emotional attitude & value(情感态度与价值观)

1) Motivate students' interest in english reading & writing.

2) Improve students' pair work & teamwork.

3) Learn how to enjoy & share an English article with others.

三、Analysis of learners' characteristics(学习者特征分析)

The students are from Class 3 Senior 2. There are 57 students in the class. Their English level is higher than ordinary classes. They have learnt English for more than 5 years, so they can learn to write a fluent article with the words they have learnt. They are more motivated and active than other students.

四、Teaching strategies(教学策略)

1. Lead in (using a tongue twister to interest students).

2. Ask students to take part in pair work and group work.

3. Learn to write a simple English poem.

4. Play games.

5. Practice: Write a sentence-a longer one-a short passage-a longer one.

五、Teaching Aid(教学辅助设备): multi-media, blackboard.

六、Teaching procedures(教学过程):

StepⅠ Warm up:

Read the following tongue twister as fast as possible (小组比赛):

There is no need to light a night light on a light night like tonight, for a bright night light is just like a slight light.

(Then try to put it into Chinese.)

StepⅡ Learn to write a complete sentence:

a) Are they right or wrong? How to correct them?(小组比赛:要求改正并说明理由)

* Work hard, you'll succeed. (改正:and you...)

* I have a brother, who is a doctor. (正确)

* There are only 4 students take part in the activity. (改正:who take.../ taking)

* The meeting last until 3:00 this afternoon. (改正:will last...)

b) Make up a sentence using "I have": (pair work)

eg. I have a dream of becoming a physician.

eg. I have a brother who is a doctor.

c) Write a poem like"I have", using these expressions: (team work)

* I have seen...

* I have heard...

* I have touched...

* I have smelled...

* I have tasted...

* I have remembered...

Example 1:

StepⅢ Coherence :

Judge and write it grammatically and logically, using transitional words and phrases.

Three kinds of coherence:

Finding proper neighbors to make them coherent: (小组限时比赛)

Type A :

1. The biggest one is being able to do sth you love.

2. Most musicians are unable to have a stable family life.

3. There are many advantages of becoming a professional musician.

1. Mary couldn't pull open the top of the sealed bag.

Coherence in a paragraph:

There are many reasons why millions of Americans move every year. Some move to find better jobs or to advance their careers. Others are attracted to places with better weather. Still others want to move to a place with less crime. In addition, many people want to move to a place with a lower cost of living.

StepⅣ Learn to write s short passage about 50 words:

Example:

A home phone

I think there are many advantages to have a telephone at home. First of all, a home phone can provide us with a lot of convenience. A home phone also makes communication easy. Finally, a home phone can be of some help in emergency though some people don't like to have it at all.

Structure of expository writing (说明文的结构):

1. Topic sentence (main idea)

2. Details 1, 2, 3, 4...

3. Conclusion

在列举事实、陈述理由或说明原因时常用的连接词:

For one thing...for another; on one hand...on the other hand; in the first place;

to begin with; first of all; first(ly), second(ly), third(ly); in addition; besides; still; also; finally; last but not least; in a word; in conclusion

Try to write an article with the following material (50--60 words):

七、总结与评价

1. 教学设计方面:

本课以一句较长的英语绕口令开始引入课题,引起学生对本课的兴致。然后层层递进,由单句--长句--并列句--诗歌--限字短文--标准短文,让学生一步步学会写完整的一篇英语短文。学生在老师的引导下,从单句造句到学写诗歌到限字短文,逐渐达到本课要求的预期目标。

2. 学生反馈方面:

学生对这堂写作课较感兴趣,老师给他们布置的写作任务能较顺利的完成,而且写的作文比以前的好。连平时写作较困难的学生也写成一篇像样的短文,而且第二天在上课时让老师当成范文念给全班学生听,全班同学给予的掌声让他很自信。

3. 本人的教学反思:

本人觉得这堂课的板书确实较少,这是多媒体课型的不足。平时我上常态课的板书挺多的。至于课堂节奏的快与慢,要根据学生的接受水平而定。我上3班(珍珠班)的课比4班的课节奏快多了。同样的这堂写作课,在4班是上不完的,上4班的课时我删掉一个环节,而且布置的作业也降低要求。

我觉得:平时的常态课如果都像公开课一样的效果,那么,课堂效率一定高得多。但是每天上的课,我们不可能像公开课那样用那么长的时间来设计、制作课件,那是不现实的。然而,我们真可以想一想如何有效提高课堂效率。

4. 听课专家和教师点评:

教学设计合理科学,联系紧密;教学内容形式多样化,过渡自然;教学过程流畅,信息量大;教学手段灵活,有创新,有特色;教师教学技能娴熟,善于激发学生的学习兴趣和求知欲,通过展示不同类型与写作相关的题型,让学生学与致用,课堂效率高,能达到预期的目的。本课亮点:用英语绕口令导入、学写诗歌、题型材料丰富和作业的设置。本课不足:教师板书较少,部分学生上课不够积极主动。有的听课老师认为:课堂节奏过快,担心会有部分学生跟不上教学进度。但总体这堂课还是很成功的,达到预期的效果。
