走过20年

在我们中国人百年奥运梦想成真之际，《走向世界》杂志迎来了创刊20周年的日子。

翻阅20年来出版的《走向世界》杂志，仿佛打开了一幅波澜壮阔的齐鲁大地改革开放、经济社会发展的历史画卷。这并非言过其实，正如杂志诞生之时，刊首语所言“改革开放的大潮，冲破了齐鲁大地宁静沉寂的氛围，使山东经济跃上了新的境地。本刊力图反映出这一变化。”正是秉持这一办刊宗旨，20年来的《走向世界》杂志记录了山东对外开放的进程和经济发展的成就，见证了山东城乡建设的变化和人民生活水平的提高，展现了山东优美的自然风光和山东人的精神风貌。《走向世界》杂志创刊20年正是山东省经济发展最快的20年。山东省20年的变化，就如同打开创刊初期和现在出版的《走向世界》杂志进行比较，由黑白印刷变成全彩色印刷那样明显。

向世界介绍山东是《走向世界》义不容辞的责任，向山东介绍世界同样也是这本对外宣传期刊的重要职能。《走向世界》独有的视角和传播力使她在山东改革开放的进程中，起到一种催化剂的作用。早在杂志创刊时，时任中共山东省委书记就为杂志撰文指出：“我希望《走向世界》杂志紧紧围绕沿海地区经济发展战略，积极引导人们树立起与发展外向型经济相适应的思想、观念和风格，把山东经济的发展置于国际经济的大环境中来考虑，以更加勇敢的姿态，跨入世界经济舞台。”20年来，我们始终以此为杂志的主旨之一，介绍国际最新的经济文化信息和异域风情，开拓读者的视野，提供可供参考和借鉴的资讯。

《走向世界》杂志走过的20年，是伴随着山东省对外开放不断深入而成长的20年。杂志从创刊初期的双月刊，逐步改为月刊、半月刊，进而改为目前的旬刊；出版周期从过去的2个月一期，发展到目前的10天就出版一期；从黑白印刷改为全彩色印刷；页码从76页发展到110页；发行从过去的36个国家和地区扩展至目前的56个国家和地区。《走向世界》杂志的进步也带动了走向世界杂志社对外传播事业的发展。2001年创办了精美的空地两栖杂志《新航空》中文月刊；2002年又创办了中国第一本对韩交流的韩文月刊《金桥》；中国山东网站正在调整扩版，即将以全新的面貌呈现给中外网友；山东省对外传播品制作中心的对外文化交流活动开展得有声有色；各种对外宣传画册以其高水平的策划和精美的制作得到广泛赞誉。走向世界杂志社事业上的发展，印证了我们这个时代的进步与发展，也印证了山东省经济社会的发展和对外开放程度的提高。

20年，对一个人来说是从稚嫩走向成熟、从羸弱走向强壮的阶段，其间离不开家长、老师和社会的关心与帮助。《走向世界》杂志创刊以来得到了主管领导及社会各界的亲切关怀和大力支持。20年来，多任省领导为本刊撰文或接受本刊记者专访，各级政府部门、社会各界知名人士对本刊给予了极大的支持和关注，使杂志的权威性更加凸现；科技、文化、教育界杰出人士的事迹，不仅激励着我们的编者和读者，也使杂志的品位不断提升；来自海外朋友的支持，不管是美国，或是欧洲，抑或是其他国家和地区，精美的稿件使杂志成为可以望世界的窗口；根植于齐鲁文化沃土的孔子后裔、儒家文化研究者和考古专家，为读者提供了齐鲁文化的盛宴，也使我们的杂志充满了浓郁的文化气息。《走向世界》杂志发展到今天，需要感谢的很多很多，但更应感谢的是我们的读者，你们的鼓励是《走向世界》杂志发展的动力，你们的认可是《走向世界》存在的根本。

《走向世界》走过的20年，从来不是一帆风顺的，而是克服了诸多困难才发展到今天，今后也将面临着严峻的挑战。同很多传统媒体一样，《走向世界》杂志也受到了以网络媒体为代表的新兴媒体的强劲冲击。我们除了顺应形势发展杂志网络版之外，也要充分认识和挖掘杂志独有的价值和特点。杂志不是信息时代的速食品或粗茶淡饭，而是具有丰富营养且美味可口的大餐。把文章做深、做透、做精致一直是我们不懈的追求。我们要感谢前辈们为我们打下了良好的基础：文字尽管朴素平实，但不乏精美；图片精致富有艺术感染力；装帧设计始终体现了最新的设计理念和印刷技术水平。我们将以百倍的努力，将《走向世界》打造成一本经得起时代检验、广受读者喜爱的杂志。

回眸《走向世界》走过的20年，任重而道远。我们没有丝毫沾沾自喜的理由，更没有摆功示好的资本。20年的总结，让我们对自己有了一个更加清醒的认识。感谢我的前任们打下的坚实基础，感谢我的同事们艰辛的采撷与耕耘，感谢那些曾为杂志做出过贡献而今却离去的人们，正是大家共同的努力，才有了杂志的今天。20年，丰富了我们的经验、强健了我们的体魄、增强了我们抗击风浪的能力。

我们已成功走过20年。我们有信心肩负起更加艰巨的使命，去描绘明天更美丽的画卷。

At the time when the Chinese people fulfilled their Olympic dream that had lasted one hundred years, Openings Magazine Agency ushered in its 20th anniversary of publication.

Browsing through the Openings magazines that have been published over the past two decades, I feel as if opening a historical picture that records the massive reform, opening-up and economic and social development that have taken place in the vast land of Shandong, just as the preface of the first issue of Openings declared: “The flood tide of reform and opening-up has broken through the silent atmosphere of the Qilu land and has pushed Shandong’s economy into a new realm. Our magazine aims to showcase this change.” Carrying forward this publication goal, over the past 20 years, Openings has recorded Shandong’s achievements secured in opening up to the outside world and economic development, borne witness to Shandong’s progress in urban and rural construction and the boosting of people’s standard of living, and showcased Shandong’s beautiful natural landscapes and its people’s spiritual outlook. The 20 years of the publication of Openings has been the period when Shandong’s economy has shown the most rapid development. In retrospect, Shandong’s changes over the past 20 years are similar to the changes seen in Openings―a remarkable change from the black and white printing in the early period to the present beautiful colorful production.

As a foreign-oriented magazine, Openings bears the unshirkable responsibility of introducing Shandong to the world. At the same time, it is also its important duty to introduce the world to Shandong.

The unique perspective and wide-spread dissemination of Openings have made it act as a catalyst for Shandong’s reform and opening-up. When the publication of Openings was started, the secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee wrote an article for the magazine, in which he pointed out: “I hope Openings magazine can closely center around the economic development strategies of the coastal regions, energetically direct people to establish the ideology, ideas and styles that can follow the development of a foreign-oriented economy, consider Shandong’s economic development in the wider environment of the international economy, and with braver attitude step onto the stage of the world economy.” Over the past 20 years, we have always regarded it as one of our main publication goals to introduce the latest international economic and cultural information as well as overseas customs and landscapes, to widen our readers’ perspective and provide useful information for reference.

The 20 years of the development and growth of Openings have kept pace with the sustainable opening-up of Shandong Province. Starting from a magazine published once every two months, it became first a monthly, then a fortnightly periodical before settling into its present ten-day cycle. From the black and white printing to the color printing, from the original 76 pages to the present 110 pages of every issue, from being issued to 36 countries and regions to the present 56, the progress of Openings magazine has promoted the foreign-publicity development of Openings Magazine Agency. In 2001, NewAir monthly, which is issued both on scheduled flights and on the ground, was published. In 2002, Golden Bridge―China’s first Korean monthly―started publication. At present, our website"www.省略" www.省略 is undergoing restructuring and will soon be open in a new form to netizens all over the world. The foreign culture exchanges launched by Shandong Center for Foreign Publicity have secured remarkable achievements. The foreign-oriented pictorial books edited by this center, with high-level edition and elegant printing, have won popular acclaim. All in all, the development of Openings Magazine Agency has verified the economic development and opening-up level of Shandong Province.

In the growth of an individual, reaching the age of 20 is a period of growth from a tender age to maturity and a period when the care and help from parents, teachers and the society are indispensable as he moves from weak to strong. Since its initial publication, Openings has received warm care and energetic support from the leaders in charge and people from all walks of life. Over the past 20 years, many provincial leaders have written articles for our magazines and given interviews to our staff reporters. The governmental departments at various levels and celebrities from all walks of life have also given energetic support and attention to our magazine, thus enabling our magazine to become more authoritative. The deeds of the excellent people working in the areas of science and technology, culture, and education covered by our magazine have not only inspired our editors and readers, but also constantly promoted the quality of magazine. The support and manuscripts from our overseas friends in the United States, Europe and many other countries and regions, have turned our magazine into window to observe the world. The lineal descendants of Confucius, the scholars involved in Confucian studies and the archaeologists have provided a feast of Qilu culture and filled our magazine with a strong cultural spirit. For the present-day development of Openings, we should express our thanks to many people. However, among them, we should express the greatest thanks to our readers who are the power to promote the development of our magazine. Your welcome acceptance of Openings is the fundamental basis for the existence of our magazine.

The past 20 years Openings has lived through has never been very smooth. Instead, we have overcome many difficulties. In the future, we will also be confronted with continuous severe challenges. Like many traditional media, Openings feels the impact of the new rising media represented by the Internet. Besides developing our on-line version, we will also draw upon the unique value and characteristics of our magazine. In the information decade, magazines, instead of being treated as junk food and simple diet, should be a form of nutritious and delicious cuisine. So it is our sustainable pursuit to edit our magazine better and better. We hereby express our thanks to our predecessors who have laid a good foundation for us. The words of our magazine read pleasantly despite being simple. The photos in our magazines are of artistic style. The graphic design always makes a display of the latest design ideas and print technology. With our utmost efforts, we will turn Openings into a magazine favored by our readers.
