Nicole Kidman: Queen of the Redheads

Elegant[优雅的] redhead Nicole Kidman, known as one of Hollywood’s top Australian imports, was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Nicole was an active, artistic[艺术家的] child. She began taking ballet[芭蕾舞] lessons at the age of three, moving onto mime[笑剧] at eight and drama[戏剧] at ten. She performed in her first public role at the age of six, in her school’s Christmas pageant[庆典].

In her adolescent[青少年] years, while other girls were at the beach, eyeing up the boys, Nicole spent her weekends at the Philip Street Theatre, watching, and learning. She had her sights set on higher things.

With the help of an American agent, she eventually made her US debut in the thriller[恐怖片] Dead Calm (1989). While at a film festival in Japan, Nicole received a call from Tom Cruise’s people, asking her to come and discuss his next project, Days of Thunder. Meeting Cruise and his people in a hotel conference room, she was embarrassed[尴尬的] by the way she towered over the megastar[巨星]. She was convinced she’d be sent on her way. But, the next day, she was informed[通知] she was in.

Kidman was listed as one of People Magazine’s “25 Most Intriguing[有魅力的] People?in 1996 and 2001, and one of the ?0 Most Beautiful People?in 1999 and 2002. As for her romantic life, she was once married to superstar Tom Cruise, but the couple divorced on February 7th, 2001.
