We Media 自媒体

Meaning: The use of modern technology by ordinary people to broadcast words, sound or videos (also called “personal media”).

在当今时代，普通人运用现代科技手段传播文字、声音或者视频已经不是什么新鲜事，大众通过这样的途径分享发生在自己身上的新闻和事实，因为网络的隐匿性让大家有了“随心所欲”的空间。在自媒体时代，各种不同的声音来自四面八方，“主流媒体”的声音逐渐变弱，人们不再接受被一种“统一的声音”告知对或错，每一个人都在从独立获得的资讯中，对事物作出判断。

We media has become a powerful media tool by allowing the transmission of information among all kinds of people.

通过在各种人之间的信息传播，自媒体已经成为一种强大的媒体工具。

Participatory / Citizen Journalism 参与式新闻

Meaning: The act of a citizen, or a group of citizens, participating in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating[传播] news and information.

一位公民或者一群公民参与到收集、报道、分析和传播新闻信息的过程的行为。这样的参与符合民主主义所要求的信息独立、可靠、精确、范围广泛以及有相关性。

The main concept of participatory journalism is that anyone can be a reporter.

参与式新闻的主要概念就是任何人都可以当记者。

Grassroots Reporting 草根报道

Meaning: The transmission of eyewitness or firsthand accounts by Internet users who participate in the fact-gathering and reporting process, sometimes even conveying breaking news.

互联网蓬勃发展至今，想必大家对“草根”这个词的含义早就不陌生了，所以“草根报道”就是指参与到事实收集和报道过程中的因特网用户传播亲眼所见的事实和第一手的信息，有时甚至传播爆炸性新闻。

The terrorist attacks were the watershed event for grassroots reporting in Web logs.

袭击是草根报道在网络日志上的转折性事件。

Microcontent 微内容

Meaning: Small chunks[块] of information that can stand alone or be used in a variety of contexts, including instant messages, blog posts, RSS feeds and abstracts.

在网络世界中，那些为我们所关注和议论的、已经显露头角的内容，只是巨量、杂芜的网络内容的“冰山一角”，而网络的决定性的价值却在于那些巨量、杂芜、价值意义模糊的“微内容”上。

相对于传统媒体的“巨内容（macrocontent）”而言，自媒体创造的常常就属于微内容。小到一句话，大到几百字，比如日志中的一篇文章，维基百科中的一个条目的修改，Flickr中的一张照片，甚至访客用户的每一次支持或反对的点击，都是微内容。简而言之，“微内容”就是能够独立存在或被用于多种文章的小信息块，包括即时信息、日志、RSS列表和摘要。

Good microcontent must be short, explanatory and scannable.

好的微内容一定要简短、有道理并且能被搜索。
