1.教学目标分析
⑴ 学习和掌握本课时阶段出现的一些有用的词汇和短语,包括词性及用法;
⑵ 通过三读法让学生掌握速读skimming、跳读scanning、精读careful reading的要领,;
⑶ 了解吉尼斯纪录的相关知识、以及勇于挑战并打破记录的杰出人物应具备的品质。
2.教学重点、难点分析
教学重点:⑴了解说明文的文体特点并以此指导阅读;
⑵ 训练skimming, scanning, careful reading等阅读微技能;
⑶ 对文章深层次的理解及细节的欣赏,了解吉尼斯纪录的相关知识、以及勇于挑战并打破记录的杰出人物应具备的品质。
教学难点:⑴ 阅读技能的训练;
⑵ 对说明文的鉴赏能力;
⑶ 怎样帮助学生掌握以下句型结构,并能灵活使用这一句型。(adj./adv./n./+as+Sub.+v.+main clause.)
3.教学过程
Step1:Leading-in and Pre-reading
T: Yesterday we talked about world records. Now let's answer some simple questions to see how much you know about them . How long did the longest lecture last? Any volunteer?
S1: 62.5h .
T: Right. How old was the youngest college graduate?
S2: 10 years old..
T: Very good. If you want to know more about the biggest, smallest, slowest, and youngest … , you can read this book. ( Teacher shows the book——The Guinness Book Of World Records to the students.) First let's learn the new words.
T: Now look at the questions in Pre-reading quickly at Page 3 then scan the text as quickly as possible and find the answers to them. (Teacher gives the students several minutes to scan the passage . After that, check the answers.)
设计意图:本环节通过老师提问前一节课所学过的关于吉尼斯世界记录的问题,激发学生的学习兴趣以及激活已有的背景知识,使学生能运用已有的知识和经验思考本单元的中心话题,能起到温故而知新的作用。
Step2:Reading
T:OK. Now , please read the passage again. This time you should read it as carefully as possible . Then answer the some detailed questions in Ex.1 in the Post-reading . Now let's begin .( Several minutes later, teacher checks the answers. Then teacher shows the Phrases and Sentence pattern on the screen and explains them to the students. )
T:OK. Now please read the passage once more. Try to understand the phrases and sentence pattern learnt just now. Are you clear?
Ss: Yes .
T:OK. Now let's begin.
( Teacher shows the following on the screen, after a while asks some students to say their answers. One student , one sentence.)
Match each of the sentences with a paragraph in the reading.
设计意图:本部分根据学生的认知规律而设计,在学生对本篇文章的大概内容已经初步了解的前提下,让他们由浅入深地理解文章当中的细节,培养学生的推断及猜测能力,推断隐含内容,要掌握各段大意。
Step3:Listening and Consolidation
T:Now I'll play the tape. Listen carefully, paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation . Then read it aloud. At the same time, you should pay attention to the way to get a record into The Guinness Book Of World Records. Are you clear about that?
Ss: Yes .
设计意图:阅读是英语教学的重点,也算是难点,同时根据英语标对学生能力的要求,本课教学以阅读教学为主,同时兼顾听说能力的培养。
Step4:Summary and Homework
⑴ Remember to review, and try to make a sentence using each phrase and the sentence pattern. Don't forget to preview "Word Study" and "Grammar" in the next .
⑵ Work in group to find more information about Guinness records through internet as well as books about after class .(Teacher writes these two tasks on the blackboard)
T: Well .That's all for today. Class is over! Good-bye, class!
