The Research of Bilingual Teaching on “General Courses of Professional Managemen

[Abstract]With the continuous improvement of the economic development and international cooperation, bilingual education has gradually become the trend of the university’s teaching. Bilingual education requires teachers have a higher level of expertise on knowledge and have a great ability of thinking in English. On the basis of the analysis on the teaching of general course on management, we could know the conditions of promoting bilingual education, the improvement of teachers’ professional knowledge level and oral English skills, the improvement of students’ ability of English listening and speaking skills and the establishment of language environment.

1 Introduction

Because the whole economy is booming, and international levels are rising, our university is focusing on “General Courses on Professional Management” research on bilingual teaching and Practical using English, in order to train high quality of graduates who are compound with high level of professional of management and great English level using bilingual education. Our university keen to cultivate students with professional knowledge, ability and high quality these three structure characteristics, especially in the view of the globalization economic. Then the students would get more opportunities to find suitable jobs and adapt to the job as soon as possible. They will devote their all knowledge to the rapid development of international cooperation and exchanges in enterprises, and become high-end management personnel who suit for market economy in the enterprise finally.

2 Promote the conditions of bilingual teaching about general course on management

2.1 To improve teacher’s professional knowledge level and oral English skills

Bilingual education improves the level of requirement of teachers’ comprehensive ability. Teachers not only to be required a higher level of expertise on knowledge, but also have strong ability of thinking in English. In other words, they need to impact professional knowledge to students using English fluently. Then they can face all kinds of doubts from students and analysis problems carefully, at the end they could explain them to students clearly. In the bilingual teaching process, the most important thing is that students should be guided to use English way to think and to consider the issues, which is not a simple process of translation from Chinese to English. In addition, teachers should also consider the students’ basic knowledge of English, the practicality of vocabulary and the acceptance of students. Teachers should avoid speaking too fast or using some difficult or remote words and they need to use a variety of methods to improve students’ enthusiasm for bilingual study.

Meanwhile, schools should encourage young teachers to go abroad for further study by applying the various funds, and then school will obtain more teachers who have bilingual teaching skills. Otherwise, some special funds will be allocated to teachers to study abroad. When they finish study, one more subjects should be taught by bilingual skills. During the process of studying abroad, the knowledge of subjects, the proficiency of the foreign language and teaching methods will be accumulated, which all are promoting the bilingual education.

2.2 To improve students’ ability of English listening and speaking skills

The main teaching method of bilingual teaching on general course of management is teaching in class. The quality of classroom teaching plays an important role on the quality of the course. Meanwhile, the process of classroom teaching is teachers teach and students learn together, and the active participation of students in the teaching process is also the key to improve the quality of classroom teaching. Therefore, teachers should fully mobilize the students’ enthusiasm and guide them to have more interest in bilingual programs.Although students’ listening and speaking ability still have some distance from bilingual education, which affects the quality of teaching,enhance students’ listening and speaking training is particular important thing at the present. Teachers also need to encourage students to watch English movies and books so as to train their sense of the phrase, and then students could learn native English expression during the entertainment, which gradually they will think in English. Because the English movie is beautiful and story is compelled, which can easy to attract students’ interests and increase their pleasure.

2.3 To establish the language environment for bilingual education

Because every student’s basics of English and the acceptance of bilingual education are both different, so teachers and schools should do their best to create a suitable locale in order to promote the bilingual teaching. Students should be provided fully available resources of learning and obtain beneficial from the independent learning environment. Meanwhile, using multimedia and network technology to create the atmosphere of the bilingual education is a vital role to optimize the learning environment of the bilingual education. School can change the library, reading room, network classroom and dormitory to be study place for students, and improve the books and electronic information such as database constantly, so that students can borrow the required books and materials easily, according to their time and learning level for independent arrangement. Therefore, sufficient variety of learning resources and interesting environment can bring students into a bilingual situation, and also can inspire students’ enthusiasm of the bilingual teaching. At last, students should be encouraged to speak English as much as possible in the campus, classrooms and dormitories. When they face everything, they could be very natural to think about it in English.

In conclusion, bilingual education can not only improve students’ English language proficiency, but also to provide students with a grasp of cutting-edge professional trends and broad platform to enhance the English communication, which make students to learn professional knowledge while also strengthening the application of English and broaden the international perspective. Meanwhile, bilingual education improves teachers’ comprehensive ability and English proficiency. Today’s the development of technology is booming, the updating of knowledge is speeding up and the capacity of information is increasing, which requires that teachers must be timely grasp of the discipline of the frontiers of knowledge and broaden their knowledge, or teachers could not fit for the teaching need of the university of the presents.
