化难为易之冠词

一、冠词的泛指与特指

难点：不是所有名词有定语修饰时都是特指，这是错误的。有时候，名词前面有修饰语时，往往表示的是类指，即表示这个人或事物是属于哪一类。

【典例1】Experts think that recently discovered painting may be Picasso.

A. the； 不填 B. a； the C. a； 不填 D. the； a

解析：D 第一空表示特指最近发现的那幅画，第二空表示泛指可能是一副毕加索的画。

二、比较级和最高级前冠词的选择

【典例2】To find better job， he decided to study second foreign language.

A. the； a B. a； a

C. the； the D. a； the.

【典例3】——Of the two apples， which one do you prefer？

—— bigger one. It’s most delicious one， I think.

三、独一无二的事物名词前的冠词使用

【典例6】There are over 58000 rocky objects in space， about 900 of which could fall down onto earth.

解析：B 有些考生可能认为这两空都应该填定冠词。其实，in space为固定用法，而earth为独一无二的名词，其前必须用定冠词。

拓展：at the same time同时；in the dark在黑暗中，全然不知；in the least一点，丝毫；in the long run从长远来看；on the whole大体上；on the contrary与此相反；by the hour按小时计算；all the year round一年到头。

点拨：解答此类题的关键是看这类名词前是否有描绘性的修饰语存在。没有一般用定冠词，有就用不定冠词。

【典例7】——Wouldn’t it be wonderful world， if all nations lived in peace with one another？

——What a pleasure to live in such a world！

解析：C in peace with“与……和睦相处”，它是习惯搭配。world前有个形容词wonderful，故用不定冠词。
