――It’s hard to tell and it all depends.

Forget it.

―I’m terribly sorry I broke your glass.

A. That’s right B. Bad luck C. Sorry D. You can forget it

1.―I’d like to take a week’s holiday.

―____________, we’re too busy.

A. Don’t worry B. Don’t mention it

C. Forget it D. Pardon me

2. If you are planning to spend your money having fun this week, better____________it―you’ve got some big bills coming.(2004

A. forget B. forgot C. forgetting D. to forget

在具体使用时,有时可有其他变体,如说成forget about it, you can forget it, (you’d) better forget it 等。如:

A:Thank you very much for your help.

B:Forget about it .

A:I’m sorry for what I said.

B:Forget it! I don’t remember anyway.

A:I’ll take the small truck.

B:And leave me to drive the other one? Forget it.

A:What’s he got to do with it?

B:All right, forget it.

It (all) depends.

1.―How often do you eat out ?

―____________, but usually once a week.

A. Have no idea B. It depends

C. As usual D. Generally speaking

2.―How long are you staying?

―I don’t know.____________.

A. That’s OK B. Never mind

C. It depends D. It doesn’t matter

―Will you do skiing with me this winter vacation?

―It____________.

A. all depend B. all depends

C. is all depended D. is all depending

―It’s cloudy outside. Please take an umbrella.

A. Yes, take it easy B. Well, it just depends

C. OK, just in case D. All right, you’re welcome

比较:take it easy 不要急,慢慢来;it just depends 那要看情况;just in case 以防万一; you’re welcome 不用谢。

―What do you want to do next? We have half an hour until the basketball game.

―____________. Whatever you want to do is fine with me.

A. It just depends B. It’s up to you

C. All right D. Glad to hear that

比较: It just depends 那要看情况; It’s up to you 这由你决定;All right 好吧; Glad to hear that 听到这事很高兴。

【备考归纳】 it depends 也可说成it all depends, it just depends, that (all, just) depends 等,有时甚至只说depends。

I may help you, but that depends.

Sometimes we’re busy and sometimes we’re not so busy. It all depends.

A:Are you going to the dance this Saturday?

B:It all depends. Are you going yourself?

With pleasure.

―Could you do me a favour and take these books to my office?

―Yes,____________.(2005

A. for pleasure

B. I could

C. my pleasure

D. with pleasure

1.―Would you do me a favor and give me a ride?

A. Yes, that’s right B. No trouble

C. Never mind D. With pleasure

2.―It’s been a wonderful evening. Thank you very much

A.My pleasure B.I’m glad to hear thatC.No, thanksD. It’s OK

3.―Thanks for the lovely party and the delicious food.

A. No thanks B. Never mind C. All right D. My pleasure

―Let’s go swimming, shall we?

A. It’s my pleasure B. It doesn’t matter

C. Yes, let’s go D. I agree with you

my pleasure 主要用于回答感谢,意为“不用谢”“不客气”,它也可说成 it’s my pleasure, it’s a pleasure, it was my pleasure, pleasure was all mine 等;with pleasure 主要用于愉快地答应对方的请求或邀请,在美国英语中多用 Okay, Sure, Certainly 等,其意为“好的”“没问题”“十分愿意”。如:

A:Thank you for helping me.

B:It’s a pleasure.

A:Thank you for helping me yesterday!

B:My pleasure! Nice to see you again.

―Hello, may I speak to Bill, please?

―____________(1998上海卷)

A. Bill speaking. B. I’m Bill.

C. You’re speaking to Bill. D. I’m speaking.

―Oh, hello. Could I speak to Mary, please?

―Yes, speaking.

―May I speak to Mary?

―Yes, this is she [her] speaking.

Why not?

A. What for? B. Thanks a lot. C. Yes, I’d like to.D. Why not?

4.―Do you mind if I open the window?

―____________I feel a bit cold.

A. Of course not. B. I’d rather you didn’t.

C. Go ahead. D. Why not?

B:Why not?

A:Let’s eat out tonight.

B:Yes, why not?

A:Don’t touch it.

B:Why not?

A:It’s hot! You’ll burn yourself.

Never mind.

4.―Let’s go to a movie after work, OK?

A. Not at all B. Why not? C. Never mind D. What of it?

―How long are you staying?

―I don’t know.____________.

A. That’s OK B. Never mind

C. It depends D. It doesn’t matter

Did you miss the bus? Never mind, there’ll be another one in five minutes.

A:Can I help you with it?
