Reception in Celebration of 30 Years of Sino-Thai Diplomatic Ties

The CPAFFC, the China-Thailand Friendship Association (CTFA) and the Thai Embassy in China jointly hosted a grand reception to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 1. Huang Ju, vice premier of the State Council, Bai Lichen, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, Shi Guangsheng, president of the CTFA, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Agriculture, among more than 300 representatives of other ministries and departments, mass organizations and the press circles in the capital, were present. Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was on a state visit to China, the government delegation he led, the delegation of the Thailand-China Friendship Association, the Thai women’s delegation, diplomats of the Thai Embassy in China and Thai businessmen working in China, totaling about 400, attended the reception.

In his speech President Chen Haosu said, China and Thailand are friendly neighbours. The friendship between the two peoples can be traced back to more than a thousand years. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago, the two countries have seen rapid and all-round development of governmental and nongovernmental contacts and cooperation in various fields. The growing bilateral relations have brought great benefits to both countries. The friendly cooperation between the two countries has played an exemplary role in promoting the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. He emphasized, to strengthen Sino-Thai relations of friendship and cooperation is of great significance to peace and development in the world. He noted, the CPAFFC and the CTFA will, together with Thai friends, continue to carry forward the Sino-Thai traditional friendship and work hard to push cooperation in various fields between the two countries to a higher level so as to bring about a better tomorrow for China-Thailand relations.

Korn Dabbaransi, president of the Thailand-China Friendship Association, said in his speech, despite changes in international situation, the fraternal friendship between our two countries will never change, because this friendship has gone deep and blended in our blood. The two governments coordinate on the international stage and the two peoples carry out extensive changes in the sports, art, trade and investment and other fields. The mutual understanding and care between the two peoples have derived from the instinct of kinsfolk that have a deep understanding of each other, not from laws and agreements. He stated, the TCFA, like the CPAFFC and the CTFA, are willing to serve as ties and bridges of love between the Thai and the Chinese people and help lay a firm foundation for mutual support and assistance between the two governments and the smooth and constructive development of fraternal relationship between the two countries.

The Chinese and Thai artists performed choruses, dances, acrobatics, etc. with strong national features at the reception.
