【作者简介】乔治・戈登・拜伦 （George Gordon Byron）是英国著名浪漫主义诗人，出身贵族。其代表作品《唐璜》等塑造了一批“拜伦式英雄”：孤傲、狂热、浪漫，却充满了反抗精神。

【赏析】本诗塑造了拜伦眼中的一位完美无瑕的女人形象。传统的情诗常把美女比作鲜花，但拜伦在诗的开始却独树一帜，把她比喻成皎洁无云且繁星闪闪的夜空。温柔夜色衬托出她风姿与秋波中明与暗的完美结合；她的秀发、神思中流淌出完美的风韵；她的动人气质和纯洁心灵映射了美与善的融合。这样，一位秀外慧中的女子形象便翩然而至，跃然纸上。

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies,

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes,

Thus mellow’d to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impair’d the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o’ver her face,

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek and o’ver that brow

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love in innocent.
