Writers Publishing House and Yeeyan.org launch“Translation and Introduction Plat

Writers Publishing House appeared at the 2nd China （Beijing） International Fair for Trade in Services （CIFTIS） with its “China Literary Publishing Overseas Promotion Program”. This program includes a translation and introduction platform for Chinese works with the crowdsourcing mode and a plan for literary film series. Ge Xiaozheng， director of Writers Publishing House， stated at the launching ceremony that， “This year is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Writers Publishing House. We launch the overseas promotion plan at the international platform of CIFTIS， which is of great significance.” He said， “The translation and introduction platform of “Copyright Export” for Chinese literature tries to break through， with the emerging social cooperative power， the translation dilemma of Chinese literature both in channel and quantity； the literary film plan provides a good way， other than the traditional and digital publishing， for literature communication， especially the international communication.”

Writers Publishing House and jointly launched the translation and introduction platform for Chinese works. The former provides copyrights of books， and the latter provides technology and translators. On the launching ceremony， the detailed English recommendations of 15 literature works by the famous Chinese writers such as Zhang Wei， Tie Ning， Yan Geling， and Hai Yan were officially launched at this platform. This plan， for Yeeyan， is also a challenge， despite the successful precedent of Project Gutenberg. But this time， it’s translation from Chinese to foreign languages. Immediately the plan was launched， the translators in communities of responded actively. Writers Publishing House has finished the recruitment， selection， and translation in only 20-odd days.

Meanwhile， the literary films Writers Publishing House had prepared for 2 years gradually become influential. In 2012， films， Falling City and Useless Man， adapted from literary works， not only caused nationwide echoes， but were also frequently shown in the international film festivals. These films were presented by the film company， Malls Image， the subordinate of Writers Publishing House.

Falling City was successively nominated in the Montreal International Film Festival in Canada， International Festival of Audiovisual Programs （FIPA） in France， and Shanghai International Film Festival； Useless Man also shined in the Beijing International Film Festival. Writers Publishing House has signed a cooperation agreement with CCTV6 film channel to jointly develop the film series adapted from famous modern literature works. Li Xi， a famous writer， evaluated， “Now， the traditional publishing system is facing challenges， and the art of film making is interfered by others. Under this circumstance， the emergence of new literary film poses an excitingly new possibility for the future development of literature and films.”

“The next literary film will be adopted from the Trilogy of Youth by Mao Dun.” says Xu Gang， the leader of Malls Image， “With two years’ practice， we are optimistic about the overseas market of literary films.”
