【考点透析】题意“你可以通过多读来提高你的英语”。表示用某种方式用介词by；in表示“用某种语言”；with表示“用……工具”；of不表示“用”的概念。

by＋V－ing的用法：

1.“by＋V－ing结构”意为“以……方式；靠……手段”。例如：

I made a living by teaching English at school我以教英语为生。

The boss has made a lot of monsy by selling building materials

那个老板通过卖建筑材料赚了很多钱。

2.“by＋V－ing结构”常用来回答How do you…?或How can I…?这类疑问句。例如：

(1)――How do you learn English?你如何学习英语呢?

――I learn English by reading aloud我通过朗读来学习英语。

(2)――How canIturn ontheTV set?我怎么打开电视机?

――By turning this button转动这个按钮。

by的其他用法：

1.表示“由于……的结果；凭着”。例如：

I’m sorry I took your umbrella by mistake

对不起，我错拿了你的雨伞。

2.表示“不迟于……，到……为止”。例如：

You must hand in your homework by tomorrow afternoon

你最迟明天下午要交作业。

3.表示“在手头，身边”。例如：

It’s good to have a dictionary by you when you are reading

看书时手头有本词典是有好处的。

4.表示“通过……方式(传递)”。例如：

Shall I tell you the result by letter or by telephone?

我是写信还是打电话把结果告诉你?

5.表示“被，由”。例如：

He is reading a novel by Lu Xun，他在读鲁迅写的一本小说。

6.表示“在……旁边”，相当于beside。例如：

Some are drawing by(beside)the lake，一些人正在湖边画画。
