Study on Strengthening the Management of Non―book Resources in Libraries

Abstract. Libraries are places in which all kinds of academic information are gathered， providing people with a broad platform for accessing a variety of knowledge. In addition to the knowledge in daily work， study and life， some important historical materials are collected in libraries， and all of them are of important significance for studies of social development from multiple aspects. Influenced by information technology， the forms of library resources are no longer limited to books and documents， and digital resources have changed into part of the storage of library information. With the purpose of solving the problems in the current management of non-book resources， it is necessary for management personnel of libraries to actively change management model and make more scientific and sound resource management programs. Based on this point， an analysis is made by the author in this paper.

1. Introduction

There are a great number of inconveniences in processing and storing the traditional book materials. For example， paper is easy to be damaged； large spaces are necessary to be occupied； it is difficult to look for targeted information. All these have given rise to huge difficulties for management personnel of libraries， and also are inconvenient for readers to access book materials.

Since the development of information technology， book materials have been replaced by digital resources with a gradual step. Therefore， not only the difficulty in the management of library resources is reduced， and also library resources can be more easily accessible to all readers.

However， obvious hidden dangers exist in the security of digital resources based on computers， For this reason， strengthening the management of non-book resources is an issued necessary to be studied by management personnel of libraries.

2. Application of Digital Resources in Libraries

As libraries develop towards digitization and networking in depth， digital resources such as electronic books， electronic journals and digital resources attain a fast increase in recent years. Although increasingly rich and diversified information resources are brought for people， new contradictions and problems emerge for all readers at the same time. For example， contents in many sorts of information resources are cross and repeated， and also have a low correlation. Therefore， it is very difficult for readers to make a good choice and learn.

First of all， all sorts of management operations can be completed by the management personnel of libraries using the digital function module， and also automatic detection system should be developed for accessing the electronic documents.

Second， according to the network pages provided by system and the standard operation flow， reader users can search all kinds of information resources they need， as shown in figure 2. As a result， a harmonious environment for resources management can be created.

4.3. Control management

Automatic control system is very helpful for the highly- efficient management of non-book resources. In this model， the advanced information technology is applied， aiming at carrying out a comprehensive control on the original resources of libraries.

In consideration of the large storage of information resources of libraries， a single computer management model has been unable to meet the needs of resources management.

For this reason， it is necessary to make an enhancement to the control management of resources in libraries； the efficiency of managing the non-book resources of libraries can attain an increase by relying on the automation control platform.

5. Conclusion

All in all， science and technology is the most fundamental power， which drives things to develop forward. Library management model in the future will certainly be modified towards automation， digitization and intelligence， and the management model of book resources in the early time will fall into disuse with a gradual step.

Therefore， considering non-book resources are the advanced method for libraries to store information in the future， it is necessary for management personnel of libraries to adapt to the new resources model as soon as possible.
