South Publishing Media Will Undertake the Annual Meeting of the Work Group Working on “Foreign Spreading Plan of Chinese Books” in 2013
The 8th working conference of the work group working on “foreign spreading plan of Chinese books” was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi from Mar 29th to Mar 30th. Hundreds of publishing persons from nationwide gathered in a same hall, discussing “stepping out” plan of news & publishing industry. The leaders, such as the director of the news office of the State Council, Wang Chen, the vice director, Wang Zhongwei, the vice director of General Administration of News & Publishing, Song Mingchang, participated in the conference. The conference summarized the work performance of the work group working on “foreign spreading plan of Chinese books” for “stepping out” in 2011, and honored and awarded the members who had comprehensively outstanding performance.
The chairman of the Group and South Publishing & Media, Wang Guike, participated in the conference. In consideration of the current outstanding performance conducted by South Publishing & Media on the work of “stepping out”, the work group decided to hold the 9th working conference of 2013 in Guangdong. At the conference, the chairman, Wang Guike, took the group banner of “foreign spreading plan of Chinese books” from the vice director, Wang Zhongwei, in behalf of the group and South Publishing & Media; thus, South Publishing & Media officially became the undertaker of the annual meeting of the work group working on “foreign spreading plan of Chinese books” in 2013. Wang Guike indicated in his speech that, South Publishing & Media would treat the annual conference as an opportunity to obtain a better performance when implementing “stepping out” strategy, so as to lead the “stepping out” work of the publishing house to a new stage and realize qualitative leap. South Publishing & Media would take any effort to undertake the relevant works of the annual conference according to the deployment requirement of the News Office and General Administration of the State Council, and endured that the annual conference in Guangzhou would be held successfully and perfectly.

In the afternoon of April 18, the “Chinese opportunity and challenge in globalization” publishing forum was held in the 2012 London Book Fair home field of London Earls Court Center. This activity was hosted by General Administration of Press and Publication and undertaken by South Publishing & Media, which was listed as one of the major activities as Guest of Honor in London Book Fair by the general administration. It emphasized high tech and specialty, attracting many government officials, economists and experts working on Sinology from China and England to participate. The director of the management department of the State General Administration of Press and Publication, Wu Shangzhi, the professor of Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, Ding Li, the director of the Asia research center of London School of Economics and Political Science, Athar Hussain, the chairman of Guangdong Publishing Group and South Publishing & Media, Wang Guike, the vice president of Guangdong Publishing Group and proprieter of Guangdong People’s Publishing house, Jin Bingliang, the product manager of British International Road Press, Ben Parker participated in this forum.
At the forum, the experts and scholars reported their thesis for the theme “Chinese opportunity and challenge in globalization”, researched the reason that China can obtain outstanding achievements on grasping opportunities, economic construction and other aspects under the global economic integration, the new opportunity brought by social development to the world, how the enterprises of China can integrate in local culture, realize internationalization, localization when they expand overseas, and other hot issues.
The experts and scholars also interacted with audiences on the spot and answered their questions. The audiences of this forum were mainly teachers and students from London University, City University and other colleges and universities in London; they were interested in the development of China contemporary society and operation of Chinese enterprises, including many students who treat contemporary China research as their major subject.
