二、Teaching object analysis

Ability of implementing the target language

1.After functional practice, most students will be able to describe a place fluently.

After reading, discussion and reporting in this class, all the students will want to share their happiness and the good things around them with their friends. They will be eager to know more about Singapore and have a desire to learn English well.

三、The analysis of learners

A: The students of grade 8 have got the basic level of getting some information from the reading material, but they don’t pay attention to the main idea and the structure of a paragraph or a passage. So I design some activities to arise their interest to pay attention to them.

B: The students of grade 8 can get some information from a passage by reading, but they prefer reading or thinking to speaking and writing, so I organize some activities to encourage them to discuss, speak and write.

六、Teaching procedures

(一)Pre-task

Step1: Listening to a song

Listen to a song about travel, and then answer the questions.

(1)what does this song talk about? (2)Do you like traveling ?(3)When do you usually travel?

(4)where have you ever been ?

Step 2: Guessing the place

Show some pictures about some places that the teacher has ever been to. The students guess the Place with the question“Have you ever been to …?”

通过歌曲和游戏,学生对旅游这个话题产生兴趣并复习了“Have you ever been to….?的句型。

(二)Task-cycle

Step1 A video showSee a video about Singapore and answer the question“what can we learn from the video ?”

Step 2 Jigsaw game

1. Use one word to describe each of paragraph and put them in the right place?

通过游戏,学生对文章的整体结构有一个初步的了解,为学生正确找到相关信息做好了准备

Step4 Competition

1.“How many useful words and expressions of describing a place can you find in this passage?”(while the students say the useful words and expressions, the teacher write them on the blackboard. (详见:page1.”language knowledge”)

2.“Use these useful words and expressions to make sentences”.(while the students make sentences, the teacher explain the usage of some important words the expressions)

Food : Maybe you fear that……However, if you ‘re feeling brave, Singapore is a excellentplace to……。

attractions(zoo): Most large cities have zoos, but have you ever beento…….? It might seem……dark, but If ……daytime, you might understand why……, .A lot of animals ……wake up……At night Safari, you can watch ……natural environment……。

Weather: One great thing about Singapore is that …….all the year round.

通过复述文章,学生巩固了文章的结构,并能深入的掌握目标语言的用法

tep6 Writing an ending

For example:Seeing is believing, if you are interested in ……, visit it right now.

通过给文章加一个结尾,学生对这一类型的文章结构的把握更完整。
