在澳大利亚西部城市珀斯,有一幢建筑坐落于风景如画的天鹅湖畔。当初设计的初衷即是希望选取最佳的视角,从而能更好地欣赏到天鹅湖的迷人景色,基于这一点,设计师Paul Burnham为业主打造出了一个完美的居住空间。

房屋的主体为钢架结构,侧面是由无数细长的柚木条铺就的整面墙壁。建筑物的后侧,则是由昂贵的落地玻璃打造出来的栅格落地窗,房屋主人不仅可以通过宽大的自动遮光栅格来营造空间的私密性,而且还能够自由掌控阳光的渗透。这种可调控的光栅格是其设计的一大亮点,既可以让冬天的阳光毫无保留地流入室内,又能够通过夜晚的全部关闭营造出一个私密空间。

房屋主体建筑两侧的山墙部分处理得极有创意,柚木的铺设手法犹如船只上甲板的铺设一般,使房屋顶部呈现出一种厚实的暖色调工艺。柚木中蕴涵着大量的天然油脂,这直接导致这种木材几乎成为最结实的室外装饰工艺的原料。随着时间流逝,柚木会自然的褪色成一种柔和的灰色,但只需轻轻打磨就可以恢复到原来的金色。

在生活空间划分上,设计师则采用了颠倒的设计方案,将儿童房设在第一层,而主生活区和父母房设在第二层,这一设计较为新颖特别。整个房屋的设计和施工也显得简单明了,清晰的线条让整个外观华美而和谐,一个别致独特的居住空间应运而生。

A new house in Mosman Park, Perth, Western Australia, located alongside the picturesuqe Swan River.The house is designed to maximise the broad views of the Swan River and to acknowledge the maritime environment.

The main volume of the house is steel framed and clad with a mixture Teak and full height glazing.The expansive glass areas are afforded privacy or unlimited solar control through the large banks of automated louvres. The adjustable louvres enable the house to be open for full winter sun or completely closed down for night time privacy.

The house is an upside down design with all children's rooms located on the ground floor and the main living areas and parents rooms on the first floor.

The Teak cladding to gable ends of the main house volume is similar to boat decking methods, providing a tactile and warm finish. The design and execution are simple and clear.The natural oils contained in Teak make the timber one of the most enduring exterior timbers finishes. The Teak weathers naturally over time to a soft grey which can be lightly sanded years later to again expose the original golden colouring.
