It was reported that an incident had happened that an 8-year-old girl on the bus yelled at a 70-year-old woman. A woman passenger was enraged and slapped the girl’s cheek on the spot.
After the incident，there aroused a heated debate all over the country. Some people scolded the girl for her rude remarks and thought she probably deserved what she got. Some thought the woman passenger shouldn’t slap a child and should answer for what she had done to the girl.
No matter what kind of attitude they took，we couldn’t ignore the fact that civic and ethical education should be advanced. Strengthening the socialist moral quality of all the people is significant in building a harmonious society. Education is the basis for improving the moral qualities of the citizens， especially in our modern society with rapid economic development. More and more people have noticed the deterioration of morality in our society. The incident happened on the bus has sent us an evident suggestion that more attention should be paid to moral awareness of citizens，especially the youth.
In my opinion，both the little girl and the woman passenger are to blame. On one hand，the little girl’s rude behavior and hurting insults mirrored her bad moral awareness. On the other hand，the woman passenger was not supposed to slap the girl heavily，which made herself as rude as the girl.
Undoubtedly，several reasons are responsible for such a bad phenomenon. First of all，nowadays，people tend to place more emphasis on study achievements of children than moral education. Besides，the whole society has ignored the vital value of morality in some way.

To be frank，reading the news，I was more shameful than angry. The girl’s hurting words not only hurt and shocked people on the bus，but also reflected the bad moral awareness of our children. The woman passenger’s offensive behavior injured the girl and damaged the good image of adults in the mind of our children.
Chinese people，well-known for our traditional good cultivation，now are facing an urgent challenge，that is，the worsening morality of our citizens. What causes this？
