English linguistic sense’s position in English teaching

【摘要】 英语语感在英语教学中占有重要地位。是英语教学的关键。它是集理解,运用于一身的一种语言感觉能力。它意味着,当我们了解语言规律的时候,我们对语言会有正确的感知和合理的判断,总而提高我们的认知能力。这对我们学习和使用英语是非常有用的。如果我们拥有了这种宝贵的语感,学好英语就容易多了。所以,英语教学的关键是帮助学生形成,发展和提高语感。它是英语教学的主要矛盾。而语感不是秘密的和抽象的,如果我们没有大量的语言实践,我们不可能有语感。通过听力训练,朗读和背诵的积累,创设情景交际教学和提升写作能力是培养英语语感的一种有效的方式。

Ⅰ.What is the linguistic sense

Linguistic sense is a kind of direct and natural sense that people have.

It is systematic, comprehensive perception ability. It is a kind of psychological phenomenon from the development of a language begins to get mature. Its form of expression includes four aspects,firstly, we have accurate and sagacious understanding competence;secondly, accurate and skilled language applied competence; thirdly,accurate and rapid judgement competence and correct mistakes competence; fourthly , appropriate and natural communication competence. So it is a mark that you master English to acquire English linguistic sense.

Ⅱ.The ways of training English linguistic sense

When we learn English, we often come into contact with it by listening practice and reading practice, and then absorb to form linguistic sense,and then accumulate and digest what we have learnt, that is to remember,and then apply language to speak and write. This is language reqularity,we must obey it.. How to train English linguistic sense, I think we should train it from four aspects.

1. From standardized language listening practice to train English linguistic sense.

For the students, there are many wonderful texts and dialogues in the students’ books. There are also English tapes along with the students’ book. The recording tapes are read by Englishmen or Americans.

Each English teacher has a cassette tape recorder. Now many students alsohave English tapes and walkman. They are very useful for us to learn English. We must listen English as much as possible. Listening is the foundation and essential prerequisite. The first step, guide the students to listen to the wonderful texts or dialogues consciously, make the students feel the rhythm of English. Listening can train standardized speech sounds and intonation,it is effective way to train English linguistic sense. The second step, try your best to understand and think it in English, and then we model it carefully, to model its right speech sounds and intonation, to model from words to sentences to paragraphs, encourage the students to open their mouths to speak. For the students of weak academic ability, we should give them more help and encouragement.

2. From reading and reciting to train English linguistic sense

Among the language practice ,reading and reciting may be the most effective. At the same time, through seeing of the eyes, reading of the mouth, hearing of the ears and thinking of the cerebrum, can stimulate all the organs and cerebral central nervous system, make cerebrum think more actively, make the students form good language skills. Reciting set up on the foundation of reading, it can deepen memory and store up materials, fall into a pattern of sentences and passages. Because may have limitless sentences and passages, but its pattern is not limitless. Master a structure pattern means that you can produce many sentences and passage. And classic language pattern is always in the dialogues and texts. In the course we must pay attention to another question, we should learn to think in English.

3. From creating English environment and develop activities to train English linguistic sense.

Language is a tool to communicate ideas and get information. So we can’t depart English from developing activities.

We develop all kinds of activities in English teaching. At the beginning of every English class, I will take out a few minutes to do all kinds of daily report. Every student takes his turn to do it. At first, because they don’t know much language information, I let them do simple report like this,“I’m on duty today. My name is・・・.Today is・・・.The weather is・・・.Everyone is here except・・・., As the time goes on, the students know more words. I improve my demands, ask them to choose their topic freely. They can give a talk, tell a story, act a dialogue or recite a poetry etc. When a student finish his report, other students may ask some questions according to the report, ask some students to answer, to see if they understand its content. Like this, most students can take part in the activity. The atmosphere is very lively. And in class I speak English as much as possible.

4. From writing practice to train English linguistic sense

We have already learned some language pattern consciously, and have made them memory in their minds. Writing practice is a higher way to train English linguistic sense.We can express ourselves by writing.In the course of writing,we also train English linguistic sense,In order to improve the students’writing competence.I arrange an English composition class on every Wednesday afternoon.I give the students topic,sometimes I also give them some tips,let them write in class, then read and correct in class ,and write the best one on the blackboard for the students to make a model. Every unit we write a composition according to its content. In addition, I ask the students to write a diary in English, write about something in their daily life. It has produced good effect.

Ⅲ. Remark In a word, training English linguistic sense is one of the most important aims in English teaching, We should improve cognition about it. We should find better ways to help the students form English linguistic sense.
