如何描写形状

一、描写各种实物和建筑物的形状,有下列几种基本句型:

1. 这个符号是三角形。

a) This sign is a triangle.

b) This sign is triangular in shape.

c) This sign has a triangular shape.

2. 这个蛋糕是心形的。

a) This is a heart-shaped cake.

b) This cake is heart-shaped.

c) This cake is in the shape of a heart.

d) This cake is shaped like a heart.

二、描写形状涉及各种几何图形,具有自己相应的名词和形容词,分述如下:

1. 圆形(round,circle)

a) 这个孩子的脸是圆的。The child has a round face./The child's face is round.

b) 这个面包是圆形的。

The bread has a rounded shape.

c) 这个学生用圆规画了一个圆。

The student drew a circle by means of a pair of compasses.

2. 半圆(semicircle,half-round)

画半圆draw a semicircle;

半圆凿half-round chisel;

半圆锉half-round file

3. 拱形(arch,arched)

拱坝arch dam;

拱道arch way;

拱桥arch bridge;

拱形屋顶arch roof;

拱形结构arch,arch structure,arched construction;

拱门 arched door;

拱形隧道arched tunnel

4. 椭圆形(oval)

a) 这个衣柜有个椭圆形的镜子。

The wardrobe has an oval mirror.

b) 这个女孩有副可爱的瓜子脸。

The girl has a lovely oval face.

5. 月牙形(crescent,crescent-shaped)

这是一把月牙形的剑。

This is a crescent-shaped sword.

6. 圆锥形(conical,cone-shaped)

高悬着一只圆锥形篮筐,作为暴风雨的信号。

There is a conical/cone-shaped basket hoisted as a storm signal.

7. 螺旋形(spiral)

螺旋形楼梯spiral staircase;

螺旋形钟表发条spiral watch-spring;

长着螺旋形角的羚羊 antelope with spiral horns

8. 三角形(triangle,triangular)

美国弗吉尼亚州的形状近似一个三角形。The state of Virginia in the U.S. is roughly triangu-lar in shape.

9. 正方形(square)

这条路是用大块方砖砌成的。

This road is paved with large square bricks.

10. 长方形/矩形(rectangle,rectangular,oblong)

长方形盒子的长度大于宽度。

An oblong box is longer than it is wide.

11. 菱形(diamond,rhombus)

这些学生排列成菱形队形。The students were drawn up in diamond formation.

diamond是扑克牌中的方块。其它三种花色与方块同列,分别为heart,spade和club。

12. 四边形/四角形(quadrilateral,quadrangle,quadrangular,four-sided)紫禁城呈四边形。The Purple Forbidden City is quadrangular/four-sided in shape.

四边形除长方形和菱形外,还有:平行四边形(parallelogram,rhomboid);梯形(trapezium英,trapezoid美);不规则四边形(trapezoid英,trapezium美)。

13. 五边形/五角形(pentagon,pentagonal,five-sided).

美国国防部的办公大楼是一座五边形建筑物,叫作五角大楼。

The office building of the US Ministry of Na-tional Defense is a pentagonal/five-sided buil-

ding,which is called the Pentagon.

14. 星形(star,star-shaped)

星形接线(star connection);

星形三角开关(star-delta switch);

星形小花(little star-shaped flower)

15. 六边形/六角形(hexagon, hexagonal,sixsided)

雪花基本上是六边形的。Snowflakes are es-sentially hexagonal/six-sided in shape.

16. 七边形/七角形(heptagon,heptagonal,seven-sided)这座宝塔有个七边形的底座。

The pagoda has a heptagonal/seven-sided base.

17. 八边形/八角形(octagon, octagonal,eight-sided)小山上有座八角亭。

There is anoctagonal/eight-sided pavilion on the hill.

18. 心形(heart,heart-shaped)

a) 约翰寄给玛丽一张印有心形图案的情人节卡片。John sent Mary a valentine card with a heart on it.

b) 情人节那天,约翰送给玛丽一块心形巧克力。On Valentine's Day,John gave Mary a heart-shaped chocolate.

19. 马鞍形(saddle-shaped)这把椅子是马鞍形的。

a) This is a saddle-shaped chair.

b) This chair is saddle-shaped.

c) This chair is in the shape of a saddle.

d) This chair is shaped like a saddle.

三、一般性描写形状,使用相应的形容词:

规则的形状(regular shape);

不规则的形状(irregular shape);

对称的图案(symmetrical design);

不对称的图案(asymmetrical design);

匀称的体形(well-proportioned figure)。

a) 人脸大体上是对称的。The human face is more or less symmetrical.

b) 这个时装模特有副匀称的身材。

The fashion model has a well-propor-tioned figure.
