The Study on Sketch Design using Creative Thinking

Abstract. Design sketch in the core of the product design process. How to use design sketch to express design concept and the development of creative thinking, the key is in the design sketch teaching. First, the definition, classification and function design sketch explanation. Second, its importance in the product design process is analyzed. And then design sketch and the computer rendering. Design sketch of the uncertainty of the proposed, and reveals the ambiguity. Third, the ambiguity of relation design sketch and innovative thinking ability is discussed. Finally, design sketch teaching is proposed points from two aspects of the performance skill and the training content. Appropriate drawing tools and technology should be chosen according to the characteristics of the measurement circuit, the different stages of the design process, we should insist on progressive training, make a design sketch can really as a continuous primer products design course.

INTRODUCTION

"World factory" of the development of China's industrial design is an important way to realize from the "made in China" to "create" of the title. The rise of the independent brand in the domestic manufacturing, innovation and intellectual property rights protection consciousness gradually enhance product design. As an effective means to increase the added value of products, enhance the competitiveness of their products, promote the brand value of the industrial design attracted more attention.

With the growing popularity of the personal computer and the continuous improvement of regional network technology, design process, the design method and design thinking of the industrial design experienced unprecedented changes. Put forward the industrial design education proposed the new requirements. As a basic course for industrial design major, design sketch facing new challenges. Design is the soul of innovation.

OVERVIEW OF SKETCH DESIGN

Design sketch is refers to the "briefing" irregular painting create through spiritual records in the thinking process of deliberation, composition and arrangement plan [1]. It started from a flash of inspiration and signs of the unconscious. Design sketch is a reminder that changes the abstract thinking in the brain into a concrete shape. Creative ideas can be recorded for a rapid use it. It may not be perfect, but it is the first step, the design concept to the actual product. Designers use design sketch to record their short inspiration and general shape product. Design Sketch and Computer Rendering

With the advent of the information age, the computer technology has been widely used in the design of the industrial field. Design rendering process is often to do the above use the computer. This is the so-called computer rendering. Products produced by rendering of 3 D modelling and rendering can simulate the real effect of products. This is vivid, intuitive and reliable, design evaluation to provide the basis.

Computer rendering is another method visual design ideas. It is the modern product design is very important. The computer drawing design drawings can replace? In some of the design of the school, the students like to spend more time in the study of computer software, not design sketch. Design sketch performance usually skilled and long-term practice. Computer software is relatively simple and easy to use. In fact, design sketch has a strong vitality. It’s an important means of developing creative thinking. The initial design sketches are full with designer’s efforts. The early shapes of design ideas are formed. They are helpful for extending design thinking and generating new schemes. They are often vague, uncertain and sometimes only a few strokes. Designers can get new inspiration and different design concepts from them. However, 3D modelling is lack of ambiguity. Any curve in 3D space contains precise geometric information. Computer rendering offers the most realistic effect of products in the whole process before prototype making. Its biggest advantage is the accurate simulation of the actual effect of products, but not the rapid presentation of design concepts. Using 3D modelling at earlier time will be detrimental to the development of designer's creative thinking.

AMBIGUITY OF SKETCH DESIGN AND CREATIVE THINKING

Ambiguity of Sketch Design

When designers use design sketches to record their ideas, they may suddenly find the design schemes are like other shapes. This is the ambiguity of sketch design [4]. The ambiguity is an important characteristic of design sketch. It's also the essential difference between design sketch and 3D modelling.

Style of painting design sketch is usually free and abstract. The relationship between the lines and line, line, face, and surface and surface are very complex. There are many uncertain, incomplete or contradictory area initial design sketch. It provides a visual basic equivocal existence. The fuzzy sketch design from the following aspects is analyzed.

Although some auxiliary lines, cross-sectional lines and shadow lines can be added to articulate the shape of a product, it can only explain the shape in a certain view. Take Fig. 4 as an example, it’s a sketch of “Guaynabo" brand pencil sharpener in the front view. The 3D shape of the product has many possibilities. Even multi-view sketches may also cause the ambiguity of design scheme. Additionally, the initial design sketches can't eliminate the ambiguity, because the design is not improved or lack of details.

3) Ambiguity caused by contradictions: Three-view drawings or control is often used to articulate the shape of a product. But limited by the designer, different view space imagination, the conflict between may occur. It will also bring fuzzy design scheme. Figure 5 is an integrated design sketch of voice. Actually, as a 2D hand-painted presentation means, design sketch can't avoid the ambiguity whether it is definite and complete. Even if the sketch is a very perfect scheme, 3D modelling or prototype making is still necessary to confirm the design scheme.

Ambiguity of Design Sketch Inspires Creative Thinking

The design process is a progressive, continuous improvement process. In the initial stage of design, design concept is vague and uncertain, and even jump one idea to several other ideological progress. Design sketch has many ambiguities. It contains more potential content than the sketch line. Ambiguity of the creative design bring make design sketch into a form stimulating creative thinking.

Designers and design team can be design inspiration from the ambiguous design sketches. Stylist still can find new ideas from his sketches and to open their minds. These differences can stimulate designers of creative thinking and bring more design [5]. In the design practice, if appropriate drawing tools and technical options and fuzzy design sketch deeply explore, an idea in the storm will product innovation design.

CONCLUSIONS

The development of computer technology will promote the development of design absolute. It will also make a sustainable design sketch teaching effect. Design sketch, as a means of express design thought and the development of creative thinking and will still exist. The training of the students' ability to hand-painted should always keep trying to improve. They must recognize design sketch fuzziness and its value. Appropriate drawing tools and technology should be chosen according to the characteristics of the measurement circuit, the different stages of the design process, we should insist on progressive training, make a design sketch can really as a continuous primer products design course.
