a bit与a little在初中英语课本中多次出现，不少同学弄不清它们的用法之间的区别，经常出错。现结合例句进行辨析。
一、相同之处
1. a bit和a little都可表示“稍微”、“有点儿”之意，作程度副词，修饰动词、形容词（包括形容词化的现在分词和过去分词）及其比较级、副词及其比较级，用在肯定句中时可以互换。如：
Will you please turn down the radio a bit / a little?
请把收音机的音量调小点儿好吗？（修饰动词）
This pair of shoes is a bit / a little expensive.
这双鞋有点儿贵。（修饰形容词）
Hedidhishomeworka bit / a littlecarelessly.
他做作业有点儿粗心。（修饰副词）
This film is a bit / a little more interesting than that one.
这部影片比那部稍有点儿意思。（修饰形容词的比较级）
注意：bit和 little有时可连用，起强调作用，意为“一点儿；少许”。如：
I’m only a little bit thirsty.
我仅仅是有点儿口渴。
2. a bit和a little都可表示“一些”（some）之意，后接不可数名词。如：
I’ve got only a little / a bit of money with me today. I’m afraid I can’t help you.
今天我只带了一点儿钱，恐怕帮不了你。
3. for a bit和for a little意思相同，相当于for a while或for a short time，可以互换使用。如：
I’m going to sleep for a bit / a little.
我要睡一会儿。
Let’s rest for a bit / a little.
咱们休息一会儿吧。
二、不同之处
1. a bit不能用作形容词，修饰名词时，其后须加上of，构成“a bit of + n.”结构；而a little可用作形容词，直接修饰不可数名词。如：
He knows a bit of / a little French.
他懂一点儿法语。
I’ve got a bit of problem.
我有点儿麻烦。
但是，当a little修饰的名词前有this, that以及所有格等限定词时，也要用a little of结构。如：
I want to drink a little of that wine.
我想喝一点儿那种葡萄酒。
2. a bit和a little的否定式意思正好相反。not a bit意为“毫不”，相当于not at all；而not a little意为“非常，很”，相当于very much。如：
He is not a bit tired.
他一点儿都不累。
He is not a little tired.
他很累。
注意：a little前一般用quite, only来修饰，而不用very，即不说very a little，只说very little。从程度上来说，从多到少的顺序是：quite a little，a little，only a little，very little。
