This time around, Paris—the city of love, has so much more to offer and it comes in the form of renewed ‘experience-de-Paris’ that starts right at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). For starters, now you wouldn’t have to wait to check into your hotel to begin the extravaganza. To make both transit and travel hassle free, Air France along with Aéroports de Paris (Paris Airport Authority) are working on “HUB-2012”—a project that redefines and simplifies travellers’ experience at CDG.

TERMINAL 2E REVAMPED

Next time when you are transiting CDG, you need not be worried about terminal changes or long walks to make it to your onward international connections. One of the key elements of the project is the transformed Terminal 2E that has been revamped into a modern, chic and easy-totransit experience. All Air France flights to and from India operate from 2E. Furthermore, all Air France international, non Schengen flights also operate from here. Passengers can connect to onward connections within the same terminal. With this reorganization of operations, Air France ensures a high level of convenience for passengers.

Within 2E, there are three boarding concourses(K,L and M) all connected with an automatic train, which reduces the travel time within the terminal, to four minutes flat. What’s more? To assist passengers on arrival at CDG, Air France has multicultural Indian agents who assist the passengers in both Hindi and English.

LARGEST AIR FRANCE BUSINESS LOUNGE

The new Air France business lounge is located at concourse “M” and spans over 3, 000 sq m. Built keeping in mind the customers’ comfort and relaxation, it can seat approximately 600 people. A complete contrast with the airport environment, the lounge takes inspiration from nature and its elements and is the largest on the Air France network. It is a perfect place for passengers to eat, drink, work, read and relax. Making it an environment closest to home, a hot meal service has been added to the already existing cold snacks and drinks available at all Air France lounges. Furthermore for those who want to enjoy a laid back environment and freshen up, there are shower stalls, free massages and facials, WiFi access with work stations (with fax and printer) and iPads with exclusive apps.

Hiren Israni CFO, Microsoft India , recently travelled on Air France and experienced CDG says,“I was pleasantly surprised to see the revamped Terminal 2E in Paris. It was significantly more convenient as it eliminated the need for a bus ride to change terminals as well as long lines for security check. The new concourse M as well as the new lounge experience was refreshing with excellent staff that was very professional, courteous and helpful. The lounge had a great layout and contemporary design; open, well-lit and airy with distinct areas for those wanting to eat, work or just relax.”

SHOP UNTIL YOU DROP

Built on the lines of a chic Parisian department store, the shopping area sprawls over 6000 sq. m housing all iconic French brands. Sunand Sharma Country President, Alstom India and South Asia, on his recent 2E experience says, “It was my first departure from the new terminal 2E. It struck me that I should have budgeted at least two hours at the terminal to enjoy the facilities. It was just great.” The idea behind this is to give passengers a taste of Paris, within the Airport premises. Now you don’t have to walk on the streets of Paris to get a feel and vibrancy of city. Passengers can shop for leading brands, or simply relax and enjoy at the bars and restaurants many serving vegetarian delights.

COMING SOON

By November 2012, terminal 2F will be reconfigured to accommodate flights operating to the Schengen region. Thanks to a dedicated walkway between 2F and 2E, it will offer faster connections for connecting passengers.

For passengers coming into CDG from Europe the concept of “single security checkpoint” applies with no additional security checks required in CDG. The area also has a new range of shops, bars and restaurants. Everyday more than 10,000 passengers will save 10 minutes of their total connection time between 2E and 2F.

To be launched in early 2013 is a service area for passengers in transit with many options for relaxation and well being and an airside hotel located before the immigration area. This will be a real boon for transit passengers who do not have the required visa to visit the city. Add CDG to your itinerary and experience the difference.
