A Wonderful Anniversary Issue

I have been reading India Today Travel Plus for many years, and I found that this year’s anniversary issue on seasons in India was one of your best. I am definitely going to add it to my collection. After going through the magazine, one realises that India is truly a fascinating country that is worth exploring during all the varied seasons.

I particularly enjoyed reading the monsoon section because I usually never plan a vacation at this time. But the articles on Goa and Kerala make the places seem gorgeous during the rainy season. Next time I want to go for a vacation in India, I’ll make it a point to go through your magazine to help me decide where to go with my family. But as of now, Goa and Kerala are definitely on my to-do list during the monsoons. Looking forward to more such issues.

Serene Sikkim

For many years, Sikkim has been one of my favourite destinations because it has so much to offer, from quaint hillstations, monasteries, to gushing waterfalls. I have explored many of the well-known tourist destinations such as Gangtok, Nathula Pass, Rumtek monastery and Tsomgo Lake. But after reading the beautifully written article ‘The Road to Nowhere’ I realised that there is yet another place I can add to these. I will definitely spend a weekend at Pelling as suggested by you and re-connect with nature.

A Luxurious Way To See India

I enjoy train journeys a lot. Given a choice, I would only travel by trains because this way one can really soak in the varied sights of our beautiful countryside, but unfortunately to reach places quicker we all have to take flights. I have been planning to go on a luxury train for a long time, but I was confused about which one to take. But after reading about Maharajas’ Express in the story ‘Live Life King Size’in the December issue, my confusion has gone. I am convinced that this might well be one of the best ways to explore the country as this train covers a number of interesting destinations.

Aiding Memories

The photographs in the Jammu and Kashmir article, ‘Fall For It’ in the anniversary issue brought back memories of the time when I visited these places frequently. The article and photographs mainly focused on autumn in the state, when it is stunning. But I personally prefer the winter season there, when everything is covered in sheets of white and this is the only colour you can see for miles. Many people avoid coming here during this season as it is too cold, but for me nothing can be more peaceful than sitting by the fireside, sipping kahwa and watching the snowfall.
